School Age Teacher - Assistant

As an Assistant School Age Teacher at our childcare center, you will work under the direction of the Lead School Age Teacher to provide a safe and engaging environment for school-age children while implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum that promotes their growth and development. Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

• Assisting the Lead School Age Teacher in providing a safe and engaging environment for school-age children while ensuring their physical, emotional, and developmental needs are met
• Supporting the Lead School Age Teacher in planning and implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum that promotes school-age children’s growth and development
• Helping to implement activities that stimulate school-age children’s cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development
• Communicating effectively with parents and guardians to keep them informed of their child's progress and development
• Supporting the Lead School Age Teacher in creating a positive and welcoming environment for families and building strong relationships with them
• Assisting in maintaining a clean and organized classroom that is conducive to learning and play
• Adhering to state regulations and licensing requirements for school-age care
• Participating in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in school-age education

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for this role will possess the following qualifications:

• A high school diploma or equivalent
• At least one year of experience working with school-age children in a childcare setting
• Knowledge of state licensing requirements and regulations for school-age care
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow the direction of the Lead School Age Teacher
• A passion for providing high-quality education and care to children

Requirements

All staff members must meet licensing requirements, have a completed background check, be current with pediatric and adult first aid and CPR, and have a Growing Futures account with required trainings.
